Hey, yeah I finally made it to that new park you were talking about. The trail was a lot easier than I expected, honestly. We took the dog and she had an absolute blast running around in the grass near the picnic area. The weather was perfect too, not too hot and just a slight breeze. I forgot to bring enough water though, rookie mistake. We cut the hike short a little bit and just hung out on a blanket near the playground. There was a guy flying a really elaborate kite, like one of those giant octopus ones. It was pretty impressive until it got tangled in a tree. Oops. Anyway, we should plan a trip back there together soon. Let me know what your weekend looks like. I'm free Saturday morning if you want to grab coffee first and then head over. There is a little cafe like a block from the entrance that looked pretty good. We'll pack a real picnic this time, maybe some sandwiches and fruit. It'll be fun.

Oh, and I finally tried that sourdough starter recipe my cousin sent me. It took like a week to get going but the first loaf actually came out decent. Not as good as the bakery down the street, but edible. I dropped some off at my neighbor's place and they seemed to like it, or they were just being polite. Hard to tell sometimes. Anyway, let me plan something for us. I think the weekend after next works best for me. Let me know if you want to bring anything. I'll handle the sandwiches. So I started reading that sci-fi series you recommended. I'm halfway through the second book now and I can totally see why you love it. The world-building is incredible, and the characters actually have realistic motivations, which is rare in that genre. The first book was a bit slow to start, but about a hundred pages in it really picks up. Have you read the author's earlier standalone novel? I'm thinking of picking that up next while I wait for the third book to ship. My library hold is taking forever. I also watched that documentary you mentioned about the coral reefs. The cinematography was stunning, really heartbreaking though to see how much damage has been done. It reminded me of our trip to the aquarium last year. We should try to plan a beach trip this summer, even if it's just for a long weekend. Let me know what you think.
