I looked into those trail options for next weekend. The Cedar Ridge loop is probably your best bet since you mentioned wanting something moderate. It is about 6 miles with some good viewpoints about halfway through. I would suggest starting early around 7am to avoid the crowds and bring plenty of water since there are not many shaded spots. The parking lot fills up fast on weekends so carpooling would be smart. Let me know if you want to meet up beforehand and grab coffee. I can bring some snacks to share if you would like. Also worth noting that the trail can be muddy in spots if we get rain later this week so waterproof boots might be a good idea.

I checked the weather forecast and it looks like Saturday morning will be clear with temps in the low 60s which should be perfect for hiking. If we go with the Cedar Ridge loop we could stop at the overlook for a break and take some photos. There is also a shorter spur trail near the halfway point that leads to a small waterfall if anyone wants to add a little extra distance. Let me know your thoughts on the plan.

I finished that novel you recommended and really enjoyed the character development. The way the author described the coastal setting made me feel like I was there. You were right about the pacing picking up in the second half. I can see why you thought I might like it given my interest in historical fiction. Have you read any of the author earlier work I should check out next I was thinking about starting the one set in Portugal but I am open to suggestions. Let me know what you think. I also wanted to ask if you are free next Thursday for the discussion group. We are meeting at the library conference room at 6pm and I think you would enjoy the conversation about the themes in this book.

I have been meaning to ask if you have read anything else by that translator. The prose felt very natural and I wonder if that is due to the translation or the original writing style. Either way I am looking forward to exploring more. Let me know if you want to borrow my copy of the other one I mentioned.
