I was telling Sarah the other day how much I enjoy gardening now. It started as just a small herb garden, but now I've got tomatoes, peppers, and even some strawberries. There's something incredibly satisfying about eating food you've grown yourself. The weather has been perfect for it lately, lots of sun and occasional rain. I spend about an hour every evening just watering and checking on the plants. It's become a nice little ritual that helps me unwind after work. She said she might start her own next spring, and I think I've convinced her to try.
I also started reading that book you recommended, the one about the history of maps. It's fascinating, though I have to admit it's a bit dense in parts. I'm learning a lot about how early explorers navigated. Did you know that some old maps had sea monsters drawn on them? It makes you realize how much we take GPS for granted. Anyway, I'm only halfway through, but I'm really enjoying it so far.
Oh, and I finally fixed that leaky faucet in the bathroom. It was driving me crazy, that constant dripping sound at night. I watched a couple of tutorials online and it was actually pretty simple. Just needed to replace a worn-out washer. Saved myself a plumber's fee, which was nice. I'm feeling pretty handy these days.

We tried that new Italian place downtown last night. The ambiance was really cozy, dim lighting and brick walls. I ordered the truffle pasta, which was incredible, but the portions were a bit smaller than I expected. My friend got the chicken parmesan and said it was the best she's ever had. We split a tiramisu for dessert, and it was perfectly creamy. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation though, because the wait was almost an hour for walk-ins.
Speaking of recommendations, have you watched that new documentary series about the history of video games? It's super well produced, with interviews from all the original developers. I grew up playing those early consoles, so it's a massive nostalgia trip. They go really in-depth on the development of the first Mario and Zelda games. It's amazing to see how far the technology has come. You can really appreciate the artistry that went into those early pixelated worlds.
I'm also planning a trip to the mountains next month. I want to do some hiking and just get away from the city noise for a while. I found this really nice cabin that has a hot tub and a fireplace. It's going to be perfect for relaxing and reading. I'm hoping the fall colors will still be around.
