We finally got the puppy to sit on command consistently, though stay is still a work in progress. He's a golden retriever mix, about four months old now, and full of energy. I've been taking him to the park every morning before work to tire him out, which helps a little. The trainer suggested we try clicker training, so I ordered one online. It should arrive tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. He's incredibly smart but easily distracted by squirrels. I think he'll be a great hiking buddy once he's fully vaccinated and his recall is solid. It's been a while since I've had a dog, so I'm learning a lot of new techniques. Positive reinforcement really is the way to go. I'm also trying to socialize him with other dogs gently. He's a bit shy around big dogs but loves playing with puppies his size. We're making progress every day, but it definitely requires patience and consistency.

I spent the weekend rearranging the furniture in my home office and it's made a huge difference in how productive I feel. I moved my desk so it faces the window instead of the wall, and the natural light really lifts the mood. I also invested in a proper ergonomic chair because my back was starting to bother me after long hours. It took a few days to adjust the settings perfectly, but now I can actually feel the support. I added a couple of shelves for my books and plants to make the space feel more personal. It's amazing how much the environment affects your focus and energy levels. I'm actually looking forward to sitting down and working now, which is a nice change. I just need to do something about the cable management, it's still a bit of a mess behind the desk. Overall, it was a productive weekend project.
