We finally adopted a cat from the local shelter last week. We went in just to look, but there was this one gray tabby who kept rubbing against the glass every time we walked by. The shelter volunteers said he had been there for about three months and was always the first to greet visitors. We took him home that same afternoon. He spent the first two days hiding under the couch, but now he follows us from room to room and purrs constantly. My partner is completely smitten. We are still debating names, nothing has stuck yet. uDYkWMTZYPK He has this habit of tapping our faces with his paw at six in the morning when he wants breakfast. It is equal parts annoying and adorable. Anyway, we are officially those people now, sending everyone unsolicited photos of our cat.

I signed up for a pottery class at the community center downtown. It is once a week on Thursday evenings and runs for eight weeks. The first session was mostly just an introduction to the wheel and learning how to center the clay. It is way harder than it looks on social media. I managed to produce something that vaguely resembles a lopsided bowl. The instructor was very encouraging though, said it takes a few tries before it clicks. There are only six people in the class so we get a lot of one-on-one time. The studio has this nice earthy smell and they play lo-fi music in the background. It is surprisingly meditative. I am hoping by the end of the course I can make a decent mug. My goal is to replace all my store-bought dishes with my own handmade pottery, but I suspect that is a very long-term goal.
