Yeah I looked into the trail conditions for this weekend and it seems like the weather will cooperate nicely. We need to start early around 6am to beat the crowds and get a good parking spot. I packed extra water and trail snacks for everyone since the loop is about eight miles with some elevation gain. The park ranger mentioned that the northern section has some rocky patches so good footwear will matter. I think we should take the main trail up to the ridge and then decide if we want to extend to the summit. There are some nice viewpoints along the way where we can rest. I also brought a small first aid kit and some extra layers in case it gets windy at the top. We can meet at my place and drive together to simplify things. Let me know if you need to borrow any poles or a pack. I have an extra headlamp too if anyone needs one. The forecast shows clear skies so it should be a great day for it.

I tried that new pasta recipe last night and it turned out really well. The secret is to cook the sauce low and slow so the flavors develop properly. I used fresh herbs from the garden which made a big difference. The recipe calls for a specific type of cheese but I substituted with what I had on hand and it still worked. Next time I might add some mushrooms for extra texture. The whole dish came together in about 45 minutes which is reasonable for a weeknight. I served it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread. Everyone at the table went back for seconds so I consider it a success. If you want the recipe I can send it over. It is from that cookbook I got last month the one with the green cover. The method is straightforward and the ingredients are all easy to find at any grocery store. Let me know if you try it.
