Hey, I finally got out to that trail we talked about last month. The weather was perfect — not too hot, just a slight breeze coming through the pines. I packed a simple lunch and took my time going up the ridge. The view at the top was absolutely worth it. I could see for miles, and the wildflowers were just starting to bloom in patches along the southern slope. I remembered you mentioning the detour around the old oak tree, and yeah, that path is still there and in good shape. I ran into a couple of hikers who said the loop trail on the other side is even better, so I might try that next weekend. The whole hike took about four hours with breaks. I took some photos but honestly they don't do it justice. You should come with me next time if you are free on a Saturday morning. It was nice to just unplug for a few hours and enjoy the quiet. Let me know if you want to plan something soon.

I tried making that pasta dish you recommended and it turned out great. I had to improvise a bit because I could not find the exact cheese at the store, but I used a mix of what I had and it worked fine. The sauce came together really quickly, which was nice for a weeknight after a long day. I added a bit of extra garlic and some fresh herbs from the garden — basil and a little oregano. Next time I think I will try it with a side salad and maybe a lighter dressing, something lemon-based. Let me know if you have experimented with any variations, I am curious how it might work with different vegetables or a different protein. I am thinking about trying it with shrimp next time instead of the traditional option. Also, I might add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a bit of heat. Overall it was really satisfying and I will definitely make it again. Thanks again for sharing the recipe with me.
