Hey, I saw your note about the fence! We ended up going with cedar instead of pressure-treated pine. It was a bit more upfront but the grain is just so much nicer. We spent a whole weekend staining it. Took forever but honestly was kind of meditative once we got into a rhythm. The neighbor came over and we ended up having a cookout. Turned into a great day despite all the hard work. Have you done anything like that with your place? Anyway, let me know if you want to borrow the nail gun we picked up. It made a huge difference. Oh and speaking of projects, did you check out the new landscaping down on Elm street? They did some pretty cool terraced beds. Gave me a few ideas for the sloped part of our yard we never use. Might try something small this fall.

I tried making sourdough again this week. Third attempt and I finally got a decent rise. The starter took forever to get active. I kept it on the counter and fed it twice a day. My kitchen smelled like a bakery for a few days. The first loaf was a bit dense but the second one had those nice airy holes you see in the fancy breads online. I gave a loaf to my neighbor and she asked if I was secretly a professional baker. Made my day. I’m going to try adding some rosemary and sea salt to the next one. It’s really fun to experiment with. Do you bake at all or mostly cook? I feel like the whole process slows you down in a good way. Anyway, happy to share my starter if you want to give it a shot. Let me know.
