Hey, thanks for asking about the garden project! I ended up going with a mix of perennials this year instead of annuals. The soil here is pretty clay-heavy so I had to amend it quite a bit before planting. I found that adding compost really helped with drainage. The lavender I put in last spring is actually doing really well now which surprised me because I thought the clay would be too heavy for it. I also put in some native grasses around the border and they've been thriving with almost no maintenance. The whole project took me about three weekends total but it was worth it. I'm hoping the colors peak in late summer when we have that backyard gathering planned. My neighbor recommended a local nursery that had a great selection and reasonable prices compared to the big box stores y4vW3llc8OI and I'll send you some photos once everything fills in more.

I finally got around to trying that new recipe you sent me last month. It turned out better than I expected honestly. I was a little nervous about the timing because the sauce takes longer than I thought but everything came together in the end. I served it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread and it made for a really nice dinner. The leftovers were even better the next day which is always a good sign. I think next time I might add a bit more garlic because you can never have too much of that. Let me know if you have tried any variations on it. I have been trying to cook more at home lately and it has been nice to experiment with different flavors and techniques. The farmer has had some amazing produce this season so I have been working with whatever looks freshest.
