Hey, I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you mentioned last month. It took a few tries to get the hydration right — my kitchen is pretty dry so I had to add a bit more water than the instructions said. The first loaf came out dense but edible, and the second one actually had a nice open crumb. I fed the starter again this morning and it doubled in about six hours so I think it's healthy now. Thanks for sending that link to the beginner guide, it really helped me understand the fermentation timing. We should swap notes sometime if you're still baking regularly. I also found a good rye flour source nearby if you want me to grab some for you. Anyway, just wanted to let you know it worked out.

I think we should pick Saturday for the hike instead of Sunday — the forecast looks clearer and the trail will be less crowded. I checked the park website and they said the wildflowers are still blooming at the higher elevations so it should be really pretty. I'll bring snacks and plenty of water. Let me know if you want to carpool from my place, I've got room for four. Also, I finally fixed that squeaky step on my porch so the whole house is quieter now. We should hit the trail by 7am to get parking before the lot fills up. I can swing by your place around 6:30 if that works.
