I was thinking about what you said last week regarding the trail conditions up at Mount Tam. I finally made it out there on Saturday EMce3N9UckNVqh and honestly the path was much drier than I expected. A few muddy patches near the top but nothing serious. The view from the summit was incredible — you could see all the way to the ocean. I brought along that new backpack I was telling you about and it performed really well. The straps are comfortable and I liked having the waist support for the steeper sections. Next time we should plan a full day and bring a proper lunch. There's a nice shaded spot about halfway up with a small creek running nearby. Perfect for a break.

Also wanted to mention that the parking lot was nearly full by nine so arriving earlier would be smart. I met a couple who had been hiking in the area for years and they pointed out a few side trails I had never noticed before. Definitely worth exploring on the next trip.

I finally got around to watching that documentary you recommended. It was really well done — the cinematography was beautiful and I learned a lot about the subject matter that I hadn't known before. The pacing was a bit slow in the middle section but the ending more than made up for it. I ended up rewatching the last twenty minutes because there was so much detail packed in. The director's approach to storytelling through personal anecdotes rather than just facts made it feel much more engaging. I can see why you thought I'd enjoy it. Do you know if they're planning a follow-up or a companion piece? I'd love to see more on the related topics they touched on briefly.

Also I finally tried that little cafe around the corner from your place and the pastries were excellent. The almond croissant was flaky and not too sweet and the coffee was robust without being bitter. The staff were friendly and the whole vibe was relaxed. We should meet there sometime.
