Yeah I think the layout you suggested works really well for the community garden. The raised beds along the south side will get plenty of sunlight and the pathway between them is wide enough for a wheelbarrow which is important. For the herb section I recommend planting rosemary and thyme along the border since they don't need much water and they help keep pests away from the vegetables. I checked with the Parks Department and they said we can use the compost bin they have behind the rec center so we don't need to buy soil. If you want I can bring my tiller on Saturday morning to break up the ground before we set up the frames. Let me know if you think we need more than eight beds or if you want to add a small seating area near the shed. Also the volunteer group from the high school offered to help with planting so we should have enough hands to finish in one day. I think we should put the tomato cages on the far end so they don't shade the smaller plants.

One more thing I wanted to mention about the irrigation setup. Drip lines would work best since we can run them under the mulch and they waste less water than sprinklers. I already priced out the tubing and connectors at the local hardware store and it comes to about sixty dollars total. If everyone chips in a few dollars we can cover it easily. Let me know what you think about that plan.

I looked into the trailhead conditions and most of the routes should be clear by next weekend except for the ridge trail which tends to hold snow a bit longer. If we start from the lower parking lot we can do the loop that goes past the old fire tower and down through the creek bed which takes about four hours at a steady pace. I packed some extra trekking poles if anyone forgets theirs and I will bring rain jackets just in case since the forecast shows possible afternoon showers. The permits are free but you need to grab them from the ranger station before 8am so I figured we could meet there at 7:30 to fill them out together. Let me know if you want to stop for lunch at the picnic area by the lake or push through and eat at the summit.

Also I checked with the park office about campfires and they said fires are allowed in the designated rings as long as we keep them small and fully extinguish them before leaving. I will grab some firewood from the lot near the entrance on the way in. If anyone has dietary restrictions let me know so I can plan the food list accordingly. I am thinking we can do foil packets for dinner and then oatmeal in the morning. Should be a good trip either way.
