Hey, just got your message about the deck renovation. I've been thinking a lot about the best approach for sealing the wood. I tried that new penetrating oil last summer on my fence, and it held up really well through the winter. The key was letting it dry for a full 48 hours before any rain hit. We set up a temporary awning just in case, which gave us peace of mind. We are planning to do the same for the deck but maybe use a semi-transparent stain instead for better UV protection. I also read that applying it with a pump sprayer instead of a brush saves a ton of time, but you have to back-brush it to avoid streaks. Let me know if you want to borrow the sprayer. I finally finished that historical novel you suggested, the one set in post-war Italy. It took me a while to get into the rhythm of the writing, but once the main character moved to the coastal town, I was hooked. The descriptions of the lemon groves and the old stone piazzas made me want to book a flight immediately. I ended up researching the Amalfi Coast for hours after finishing it. There is a small agriturismo near Ravello that looks incredible. It feels so far removed from our day-to-day lives.
