Control of Lead at Work Regulations: consultation closing soon

HSE is running a public consultation to amend the Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2002 (CLAW).

The consultation timescale has been extended and it is open for comment until 7 June 2026. It is relevant to employers and those directly involved in sectors that use lead.

HSE is seeking stakeholder views on proposals relating to:

  • monitoring and lowering the blood lead exposure levels in CLAW
  • amending the Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and guidance

We are also taking the opportunity to gather evidence on ‘lead in air’ monitoring.

How to take part

The full consultation document, with detailed proposals, background information and how to respond, is available on our website.
