I was telling my friend about that hiking trail we did last weekend and he was asking about the conditions. The weather held up pretty well actually, we only got a short drizzle around noon but it cleared up quickly. The trail markers were a bit confusing near the summit, there's a fork where you need to take the left path otherwise you end up going down the ridge too early. I'd recommend bringing extra water next time, we ran out about a mile from the car. The views from the top were absolutely worth it though, you could see the entire valley and the lake looked amazing from up there. We even spotted some deer on the way back down, they were grazing right next to the trail, which was a nice surprise. I also wanted to mention that the parking lot was full when we arrived around 9, so we had to park along the road about a quarter mile down. Next time we should probably get there earlier. The ranger station had maps available for free, which was helpful since the trail signage 1wtrUTEjPowuFn wasn't great in some spots. All in all it was a solid day out.

I finally got around to trying that pasta recipe you recommended and it turned out really well. The sauce was simpler than I expected, just a few basic ingredients but the flavor was really rich. I used fresh basil from the garden and that made a big difference. I was a bit skeptical about the cooking time for the pasta but following your tip to cook it al dente worked perfectly. The whole thing came together in about 30 minutes which is great for a weeknight dinner. I added some mushrooms that I had in the fridge and they complemented the sauce nicely. Next time I might try adding some roasted cherry tomatoes for extra sweetness. I also tried that white wine you suggested with it, and it was a great pairing. The acidity cut through the richness of the sauce really well. I'm already looking forward to making this again with some variations. Maybe I'll try adding some grilled chicken or shrimp next time to make it a heartier meal. Thanks again for the recommendation, it's definitely going into the regular rotation.
