I think the best approach for the community garden layout would be to cluster herbs near the entrance because they need frequent harvesting and we can keep an eye on them for pests. The tomatoes should go on the south side where they get full sun, and we can use the old brick border to retain warmth. I found that raised beds work better for root vegetables since the soil stays looser. Please let me know if you want to adjust spacing between the rows before I order the seeds.

We tried the new hiking trail near Pine Ridge last weekend and it was more challenging than expected but the views at the summit made it worthwhile. The switchbacks were steep but well marked. I would recommend starting early to avoid the afternoon heat. Let me know if you want to join next Saturday—we plan to leave around 6:30 AM and bring plenty of water. Also, I found a good spot for lunch about halfway up with a shaded bench. You can borrow my extra trekking poles if needed.
