Weekly Recap

Boys Soccer hosted Thomas Jefferson School for Science and Technology on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the region tournament.  It was a tight game in the early going.  South County scored first but TJ came back within a few minutes to tie it up.  The Stallions put one in the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.  The second half saw the Stallions take control of the game, dominating time of possession and adding 3 more goals to their total.  TJ scored once on a PK in the last 10 minutes of the game for a final score of 5-2.  South County next hosts West Potomac on Tuesday at 6pm in the region quarterfinals

Baseball hosted Falls Church on Tuesday in the first round of the region tournament and behind a strong outing by Wyatt Osborne and a number of key hits, the Stallions advanced with a 6-1 win.  The victory sent them to Hayfield on Thursday for a quarterfinal matchup with the National District Champion Hawks.  It was a back and forth game, with strong pitching by both teams and ultimately the game was decided by a few key mistakes on the part of the Stallions which gave the Hawks a 4-2 edge at the end.

Softball 'hosted' the Annandale Atoms on Tuesday at Patriot Park due to the weather making our home field a little to damp!  The Stallions came out strong, scoring early and often to take a 19-2 victory in the first round of the region tournament.  They then travelled to Hayfield on Tuesday for a quarterfinal matchup with the Hawks.  The Stallions jumped out early and held a lead for much of the game but the Hawks never gave up and tied the game in the bottom of the 7th before scoring a walk off run to end the season for our girls.

Track and Field travelled to Lake Braddock on Thursday and Friday to compete in the region meet and saw a number of Stallion personal bests and multiple state qualifications!  For the girls, India Young took 2nd in both the long jump and triple jump and Mykal Mason took 3rd in the long jump, 4th in the triple jump and 5th in the 100m dash.  On the boys side Alex Featherly took 3rd in the 3200m run.
