It's Sunday and you know what I love about Sundays?
Fucking everything.
But also because I don't work on Mondays. Did you know that's an EXCELLENT policy your future self should adapt? Do you know how much more calm life is when you have a completely free day on Monday? It feels like winning the lottery every single week. You wake up and you're like, "wait a minute, I am free!!!!! FREEEEEE!" It feels like the biggest life hack on earth.
I call them "Second Sundays," and it's when I get to leisurely work on my passion projects. So, I mean, I am working, but not WORK WORKING. I'm indulging. I'm experimenting. I'm romanticizing myself. I'm giving my dreams space to exist—because without space, they're gonna be shoved into the tufts of a 1990s mattress somewhere, along with some crushed up Golden Grahams and that random penny that always makes its way into the tufts?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I know you know what I am talking about. Unless you're Gen Z. Then you probably have only ever slept your tiny baby bottom on a tuftless Casper mattress surrounded by white noise.
(I have a Casper mattress and I listen to white noise every night, so LISTEN TO ME TRASH TALK MY OWN SELF.)
(That said, I'm a proud millennial who knows that middle parts make you look homely, so there.) (Every millennial knows this.)
ANYWAY—Mondays are for making. I reserve them for making websites and brainstorming fun names and getting newsletters started and bringing creative ideas to life. Even if they never see the light of day, it's the act of making that matters.
And, what a difference it makes for your nervous system. No human should be spending their Sunday, dreading their Monday. I much prefer to ease into the week. No deadlines. No client calls. No rushing. I want to live a slow, deliberate life full of birds singing, and coffee brewing, and cozy fireplaces roaring, and L.L. Bean slippers cozying my toes. (Current situation.) (I really need to start wearing socks in these things, though.
