Greetings Laurel Ridge Families,
Happy Friday! It may have been a short week following the holiday, but our Laurel Ridge Lions certainly made the most of every single day. The hallways have been buzzing with excitement and hands-on learning as we prepare for the home stretch in June. Our first graders absolutely loved their visit from Squeals on Wheels, sharing some wonderful moments with their new furry friends, while our second graders tapped into their inner scientists during an explosive Marvels in Motion assembly. Meanwhile, history came alive for our fourth graders through an incredible reenactment visit with Clara Barton, and our third graders did a phenomenal job showcasing their hard work and creativity during their Ancient Cultures presentation day. We are so proud of the curiosity, creativity, and Lion pride our students displayed this week!
Finally, as we navigate the exciting but sometimes exhausting end-of-year hustle, I want to thank you for your continued partnership and support for our students and staff.
Have a wonderful weekend.

School Board Adopts Fiscal Year 2027 Approved Budget
On May 21, the Fairfax County School Board unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Approved Budget, continuing FCPS’ commitment to sustaining excellence by prioritizing competitive compensation and strategic investments that support student success.
The adopted budget reflects the division’s ongoing efforts to navigate a challenging fiscal environment shaped in part by chronic state underfunding and economic uncertainty. Despite these challenges, the budget maintains key investments and restores several reductions made during the prior fiscal year. Read about the FY 2027 Budget.
