June 3 All Student Library Books Due
June 17 Last Day of School, School Ends at 2:00 p.m.
Thanks to our PE team, Mrs. Domingo and Mr. Hill, Thursday’s Fun Day was a huge success! Students engaged in a variety of cooperative as well as competitive games.
As we prepare for a variety of end of year celebrations throughout our school building, a friendly reminder that all visitors to the school building must bring a government-issued ID, such as a driver's license or passport, to sign in through the school's front office. Thank you!
Even at the end of the school year, student attendance counts as part of the Bren Mar Park school accreditation. Children should be in school through the last day of school. Please continue to notify the office if your child cannot attend school due to illness or a medical appointment. Thank you!
Thinking Like a Computer Scientist
Learning about technology is about so much more than just using screens—it’s also about developing strong problem-solving skills! At BMP, we encourage students to approach challenges with a programmer's mindset. This means breaking big problems into smaller steps, looking for patterns, and—most importantly—viewing mistakes not as failures, but simply as "bugs" to be fixed. Building this kind of resilience helps students both inside and outside the classroom.
Here are a few fun ways you can encourage this computational thinking and problem-solving mindset at home:
- Embrace the Mistakes: When your child encounters a technology glitch, a tough puzzle, or a tricky homework problem, reframe the challenge. Ask them: "What is the 'bug' here? What can we try differently to fix it?"
- Play with Logic Games: Board games, puzzles, and mazes are fantastic tools for building logic. Encourage your child to "think two steps ahead" by planning out their moves before they make them.
- Try Pencil-and-Paper Coding: Create a grid on a piece of paper, place a small toy on it, and challenge your child to write down a sequence of directional arrows (Up, Down, Left, Right) to guide the toy to a specific "finish line." It’s a great way to practice sequencing and clear communication!
