Demonstrating leadership, service, and school pride, Ryan O’Donnell, a senior at South County High School, gave back to the Silverbrook community by designing and building a custom wooden podium as his Eagle Scout project. The podium will be used for school ceremonies, special events, and celebrations for years to come, providing a lasting contribution benefiting students, staff, and families alike. Ryan’s dedication, craftsmanship, and commitment to service reflect the values of both Scouting and the Silverbrook community.

Medications

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. At Silverbrook ES, medication must be picked up by 1:35 pm on Wednesday, June 17. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on  the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

Student Intent Form 26-27

Field Day is coming!

What is field day?  It is a time where classes will be spread throughout the school property during their designated time and day during school hours.  Students will be participating in games/activities they have done throughout this school year in their PE class.  We encourage students to demonstrate good sportsmanship, cooperation and to have fun!

On this day students should wear appropriate clothes and shoes for movement and to bring their hat/sunglasses and their water bottle.  We want students to stay hydrated during their field day.

Field Day for grades 4-5-6 will be Tuesday, June 9 at 9:20-11:40am.

Field Day for grades 2-3 will be Tuesday, June 9 at 1:10-2:40pm.

Field Day for grades K-1 will be Wednesday, June 10 at 1:20-2:50pm.

If there is inclement weather, Field Day will still occur on the same day, but the times will be adjusted, and it will be held indoors.

School Board Adopts Fiscal Year 2027 Approved Budget

On May 21, the Fairfax County School Board unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Approved Budget, continuing FCPS’ commitment to sustaining excellence by prioritizing competitive compensation and strategic investments that support student success.

The adopted budget reflects the division’s ongoing efforts to navigate a challenging fiscal environment shaped in part by chronic state underfunding and economic uncertainty. Despite these challenges, the budget maintains key investments and restores several reductions made during the prior fiscal year. Read about the FY 2027 Budget.

LGBTQIA+ History Month

In the month of June, we recognize the resilience and determination of the many individuals who are fighting to live freely and authentically. We stand with those facing an ongoing struggle against discrimination and injustice. This Pride Month, we reaffirm and uphold the dignity of LGBTQIA+ people. Each individual in our school community should feel valued for who they are. Visit our LGBTQIA+ Student Resources and Supports webpage. Caribbean American Heritage Month

FCPS celebrates the rich diversity and honors the many contributions of immigrants of Caribbean heritage to our nation during the month of June. Caribbean individuals are some of the most ethnically diverse in the world. There are more than 8.5 million individuals in the United States born in the Caribbean or of Caribbean ancestry. Juneteenth

We recognize Juneteenth, a celebration and commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. Also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day, Juneteenth marks a day in 1865 when enslaved Texans learned they would be free, two months after the end of the Civil War and two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. #OurFCPS
