Principal's Message

Greetings Tiger Families!

Recently, there has been increased local and national attention on how we, as parents, educators, and community members, can foster a healthy balance in how, and how much, our young people use technology. I know that each day at Twain, we seek to find a way to help our young people prepare for rapidly evolving 21st century technology with, while also prioritizing their mental health, social development, and responsible citizenship. FCPS promotes using technology in a way that helps keep your mind, body, and emotions healthy. This includes balancing screen time, being safe and responsible online, and thinking about how your time on digital devices affects how you feel. In many cases, we need to find the same balance as we seek for our young people.

The FCPS Media Balance and Well-being Guide provides key points, guiding questions, and a toolkit of resources to help families support healthy and balanced technology use in the home. This is not a magic wand for the 21st century, but a starting point for valuable conversations at home and in the classroom. We look forward to continuing to explore ways to support our young Tigers in the final weeks of this school year, and beyond.

In Partnership,

Matt

LGBTQIA+ Pride Month.

In the month of June, we recognize the resilience and determination of the many individuals who are fighting to live freely and authentically. At Twain, we stand with those facing an ongoing struggle against discrimination and injustice. This Pride Month, we reaffirm and uphold the dignity of LGBTQIA+ people. Each individual in our Twain community should feel valued for who they are. Visit our LGBTQIA+ Student Resources and Supports webpage. Caribbean American Heritage Month

FCPS celebrates the rich diversity and honors the many contributions of immigrants of Caribbean heritage to our nation during the month of June. Caribbean individuals are some of the most ethnically diverse in the world. There are more than 8.5 million individuals in the United States born in the Caribbean or of Caribbean ancestry.
