We just got back from a long weekend upstate and I kept thinking about that conversation we had about starting a small vegetable garden. The soil there was so rich and dark — nothing like the clay we have around here. I ended up grabbing a few seed packets from the local nursery before heading home. They had these heirloom tomato varieties I have never seen before. I am going to try planting them in raised beds this time because last year the rabbits got to everything. My neighbor swears by marigolds planted right next to the tomatoes to keep pests away so I picked up a pack of those too. I will let you know how it goes. If you want I can save you some seeds once they come in. Let me know when you are free to swing by and take a look at the setup — I could use a second opinion on the soil mix I am putting together.

I finally got around to reorganizing the garage over the weekend and honestly it feels like I gained a whole new room. I found this old wooden toolbox my grandfather gave me years ago buried behind a stack of bins. It was dusty but still in great shape so I cleaned it up and put it on a shelf where I can actually see it every day. There is something about holding tools that have been used for decades that makes you appreciate craftsmanship. I also sorted through a bunch of hardware and ended up donating three boxes of stuff I will never use. The whole process took longer than I expected but it feels good to have everything in its place. I have been eyeing the workbench area next — I think I want to build a proper pegboard setup with hooks and small shelves. If you have any tips on layout let me know because I tend to overcomplicate these things and end up rearranging everything twice.
