hey! i just got back from the hike and wow the trail was absolutely gorgeous this time of year.
the wildflowers are starting to bloom and the air smelled so fresh and clean.
i ended up going further than i planned because i just kept wanting to see what was around the next bend.
there was this really cool wooden bridge over a small creek that made the perfect little resting spot.
i sat there for like twenty minutes just listening to the water and watching a couple of squirrels chase each other.
totally forgot how good it feels to unplug and just be outside for a while.
anyway i grabbed some great photos on my phone and i will send you the best ones later.
let me know if you want to join next weekend because i am definitely going again.

i was just telling my sister about that documentary we watched last week and she said she had already seen it twice.
she loved the cinematography especially the way they captured the desert light at sunset.
i thought the pacing was a little slow in the middle but the ending totally made up for it.
we ended up having this whole conversation about nature documentaries vs animated films and which one tells a better story.
i think documentaries hit different because you know it is real but she argued that animation lets you dream bigger.
either way it was fun talking about something creative for a change instead of just the usual daily stuff.
we made some tea and sat on the porch until it got dark and the stars came out.
it was one of those simple evenings that just feels good in a quiet way.
