Hi there Adam,
First of all, thank you to everyone who joined us for our Protein for CKD class a couple of days ago!
Honestly, one of my favorite parts of these live classes is getting to hear your questions and seeing just how many people are trying so hard to take good care of their kidneys despite all the confusing information out there.
One question that came up several times during class was:
“Do I need to give up meat to keep my kidneys healthy?”
And honestly, I completely understand why people ask this.
Some people leave their nephrology appointments convinced they need to become fully vegan overnight. Others hear high-protein diets are harmful and start becoming afraid of foods they’ve eaten their entire lives.
The truth is, protein recommendations for CKD are often much more nuanced and personalized than the internet makes them seem.
That’s exactly why we created this class.
We talk through:
- how to think about protein in a more practical and realistic way
- when plant-based eating can be incredibly helpful, and when some eggs and chicken can still be part of your meals
- how to approach protein without unnecessary food fear
- and how to personalize nutrition to your own situation instead of following rigid online food rules
If you missed the first session, we’re hosting the class one more time next week:
Protein for CKD: Free Class
Final Session:
