Yeah I finally got out to that trail we talked about last month up near Pine Ridge. It was surprisingly easy to get to even with all the rain we had last week. The parking lot was almost full but we found a spot near the end. We took the loop trail which was about four miles total. The elevation gain was gentle so my legs aren't too sore today. We saw a family of deer crossing the creek about halfway through. The leaves are just starting to turn colors so it was really pretty. We packed sandwiches and ate lunch at the summit overlook. There's a nice bench there someone installed. We didn't see too many people on the path which was nice. We had the summit to ourselves for about twenty minutes. The map said the trail continues another two miles to a waterfall but we didn't have time. Next time we will start earlier and bring more water. I would definitely recommend going if you have a free Saturday morning. Just get there before nine so you get a good parking spot.

I have been meaning to ask if you have ever tried making sourdough from scratch. I finally tried it last week and it is a lot easier than I thought. The starter just needs a little bit of flour and water every day for about a week. I kept mine on the kitchen counter and fed it every morning before coffee. It started bubbling on day three which was exciting. The smell is really nice and yeasty. I baked my first loaf on Saturday and it came out okay for a first try. The crust was a little hard but the inside was soft. I sliced it warm and put butter on it. Next time I want to try adding some seeds or maybe rosemary. I watched a few videos online that explained the folding technique. That helped a lot with the texture. I think the whole process took about six hours from start to finish on baking day but most of that is just waiting for it to rise. You should try it especially if you like baking. It makes the whole house smell amazing.
