yeah I finally got around to trying that barbecue place you mentioned last month. honestly I was a little skeptical because the building looks kinda run down from the outside but the brisket was legit. the smoky flavor was really deep and the sauce had just the right amount of sweetness without being cloying. I got the two meat plate with ribs and pulled pork and honestly I couldn't even finish it all. the coleslaw was a little too mayo-heavy for my taste but the baked beans were fantastic. I'd definitely go back and try the sausage next time. next time you're in town we should hit it together. let me know what your schedule looks like next couple weeks.

also random thing I've been trying to perfect my homemade pizza dough recipe and I think I finally got the hydration ratio right. the trick was letting it cold ferment in the fridge for like three days. makes a huge difference in the chew and the bubbles. anyway let me know if you want the recipe.

oh hey I completely forgot to tell you about the hiking trail we tried last weekend. it was supposed to be a moderate three mile loop but we took a wrong turn and ended up doing almost six miles. the views were absolutely worth it though. there was this one overlook where you could see the whole valley and the wildflowers were still blooming like crazy. my legs were definitely sore the next day but in that satisfying way you know. we packed sandwiches and ate them at the top while the sun was starting to go down. it was one of those afternoons that just felt right. anyway we're planning to go back in a couple weeks if you and your partner want to join. I'll send you the trail map. also I finally replaced those worn out hiking boots I've been complaining about for months and wow what a difference. no blisters no slipping just solid grip the whole way. wish I had done it sooner. let me know if you're interested and I can coordinate dates. no pressure obviously but it was really good for clearing my head.

oh and my neighbor's cat had kittens so that's been the highlight of my week honestly. they're about six weeks old now and so wobbly and curious. I'm trying really hard not to take one home but it's getting harder every time I see them. anyway hope you're doing well.
