Yeah I totally get what you mean about the timing. We ended up leaving around 6:30 and the traffic was surprisingly light for a Saturday. The kids fell asleep about twenty minutes into the drive which was a massive relief honestly. I was half expecting them to be wired the whole way but they crashed hard. We listened to that new audiobook for a while after they drifted off and it made the miles go by much faster than I thought they would. The narrator has a really calm voice which helped set the mood.

I think next time we might try leaving even earlier maybe around 5 to catch the sunrise at the rest stop we like. There is this little diner there that makes incredible pancakes and the coffee is decent enough. Have you been there before? I remember you mentioning something about a road trip a few months ago but I could be mixing it up with someone else. Anyway let me know if you want the playlist we put together because it turned out pretty solid. A few old classics mixed with some newer stuff we found on a recommendation from a buddy. Oh hey I forgot to ask how your garden project turned out. We finally got around to repotting those herbs last weekend and they seem to be doing okay so far. The basil is growing like crazy but the mint is being a little dramatic honestly. I think we might have overwatered it at the start.

My neighbor stopped by while I was out there and gave me a bunch of tips about soil drainage and which pots work best for different plants. He has been gardening for years apparently and his yard looks incredible so I trust his advice. I ended up moving a few things into terracotta pots and they already look happier.

Anyway if you have any suggestions for good beginner-friendly plants that dont need a ton of sunlight send them my way. Our yard gets pretty patchy light depending on the time of day and I am still figuring out what works where. Hope everything is going well on your end.
