I finally decided to just go for it and paint the living room this weekend. The color is called 'Coastal Mist' and I think it will look really good with the new furniture we got last month. I4N4Dhx5ZP I just hope I picked the right sheen. The guy at the store said eggshell is best for living rooms because it hides imperfections better than flat. What do you think? Should I use a primer first even though it's just a repaint? I've been watching a lot of videos online and they all seem to have different opinions. My goal is to get it done in one weekend but I know that's pretty ambitious. I also need to figure out how to deal with the trim. The previous owners painted it the same color as the walls which just looks sloppy. I'm thinking a bright white semi-gloss for the baseboards and window frames. It really makes a room look crisp and clean. I picked up a few different brands of painter's tape to test which one gives the sharpest line. Do you have a preference? I hate spending time on prep work but I know it makes or breaks the final result. Hopefully by Sunday night I can sit back with a cold drink and admire the finished product, even if I'm sore and covered in paint.

I just finished reading that book you recommended, 'The Silent Builder'. It was not at all what I expected. The way the author describes the construction of the old lighthouse was surprisingly captivating. I thought it would be boring but the historical details were woven in so well with the mystery. Have you read any of his other books? I'm thinking about starting the one about the canal project next. Let me know if you want to borrow this copy, I can drop it off next time I'm in your neighborhood. I finished it in about two weeks reading just before bed. The chapters are short so it feels like you're making progress even when you only have ten minutes. I really liked the main character's attention to detail and the way the author tied everything together at the end. It wasn't predictable at all which is refreshing. I usually figure out the ending halfway through but this one kept me guessing right up until the final pages. The descriptions of the coastal landscape made me want to plan a trip out east this fall. If you haven't read it yet I highly recommend moving it to the top of your list.
