Yeah I think the community garden layout is really coming together. We have about forty feet by sixty feet to work with which gives us enough room for twelve raised beds plus some walking paths. The soil test came back pretty good overall but we will need to add some compost to a couple of the beds that are lower in nitrogen. I was thinking we could put the herb spiral near the entrance so it makes a nice focal point. The water access point is on the east side so we should plan the irrigation lines to run from there. We have a shed for tools that is eight by ten feet which should be plenty for everyone to store their gear. The coordination with the city parks department has been smooth so far and they are letting us use their water spigot for free.

I think we should schedule the first planting day for the second weekend of next month. That gives us enough time to build the beds and get the soil amendments in place. Let me know if you have any other questions about the layout or the timeline for getting everything set up. We still need to decide who is bringing which plants and whether we want to do a rotation schedule for watering duties.

I think for the next book club meeting we should pick something that is not too long since a few people mentioned they have been busy lately. Maybe a collection of short stories or a novella would work well for the next month. We have about eight people who usually show up and we rotate between fiction and non-fiction every other month. I was thinking we could meet at the corner cafe on a Saturday afternoon instead of the usual weekday evening to see if that works better for everyone.

The discussion format we have been using where each person brings one question has been working really well and keeps the conversation going without anyone dominating. We should probably set the date at least three weeks out so everyone has time to get the book and read it. I can send out a poll with a few options tomorrow and see what the group prefers. The last meeting had really good turnout and the discussion about character development was one of the best we have had.
