Hey thanks for your reply on the garden project. I think the raised bed layout you sent over looks really solid and the cedar planks you recommended should hold up well through the seasons. I finally got a chance to look at the soil mix you mentioned and it seems like a good balance for vegetables. I was also wondering about the drip irrigation setup you use — I have been trying to plan out the lines and want to make sure I cover the full bed without overcomplicating it. I will have to pick up a few more connectors and some extra tubing before I start laying everything out. Let me know if you have any experience with that particular manifold system or if a simpler splitter would work just as well. Also I picked up a couple of those tomato cages you suggested and they seem much sturdier than the standard ones I have used before. Maybe we can compare notes next weekend if you have time.

I was looking through your recipe binder the other day and I think the sourdough starter method you wrote down is way easier than the one I have been following. I tried the lower hydration approach you mentioned and the dough handled so much better during shaping. I used rye flour for the feedings and the flavor came out with a nice mild tang after just a few days. I am planning to bake a couple of loaves this weekend and maybe try a batard shape instead of the usual boule. Also I finally ordered a proper lame for scoring so I hope that helps with getting better ear development. If you have any tips on steam management in a home oven using a combo cooker I would love to hear them because I have been getting inconsistent oven spring depending on how much ice I toss in the pan. I also want to try incorporating a small percentage of whole wheat to see how it changes the crumb structure. Let me know if you have a go-to blend for that. Also I finally picked up the digital scale you recommended and it makes a huge difference when measuring feedings and discard. r10r15 I do not know why I waited so long to upgrade from the old spring scale I was using. Anyway let me know if you are free to bake together sometime soon.
