I was just thinking about that hike we did up to Eagle Lake last fall. The way the light hit the water right before sunset was incredible. It's funny you mentioned Dune. I re-read it last year and picked up on so many political undertones I missed the first time. The way Herbert weaves ecology, religion, and power dynamics is just masterful. I actually started reading the second book, Dune Messiah, but I had to take a break because it is quite dense. Have you seen the newer movies yet? I thought the visuals were stunning, especially the depiction of Arrakis. It really captured the scale and harshness of the desert. My favorite part was the ornithopters, they looked exactly how I imagined them. We should do a book club thing for the series, it might help me get through the sequels faster.
