I was just thinking about what you mentioned the other day regarding the garden project. I finally got around to looking at the soil conditions in the backyard and you were right, it drains much faster than I expected. I checked a few spots after the rain we had last week and most of the water was gone within a few hours. I am not sure if that means I need to mix in more organic matter or if I should just pick plants that like drier conditions. I remember you said you had good luck with lavender and rosemary in similar soil. I might try those along the sunny side and see how they do. I also found a small patch near the fence that stays damp longer so maybe I will put something there that likes more moisture. I should probably get the soil tested before I plant anything too expensive. I will let you know what I end up doing.

I finally watched that documentary you recommended last week about the deep sea exploration team. I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The footage of the underwater vents was incredible and I had no idea there were so many species living in complete darkness down there. I kept thinking about how different their world is from ours and how much of the ocean we still have not explored. The part where they talked about the pressure at those depths made me grateful I was watching from my couch instead of being in a submarine. I also liked how they showed the teamwork involved in planning those dives. It must take so much coordination and trust to do that kind of work. I might check out the other documentaries by the same filmmaker because I think they did a really good job with the pacing and the storytelling. Thanks for the recommendation.
