Dear aaa,
Petition by petition, donation by donation, action by action. What seem like small acts snowball into massive wins for animals everywhere. And we have you to thank for that.
In our May newsletter we have a lot to share with you, from a decisive petition that could save millions of animals to the surprise rescue of a baby fox. Let's dive in!

Bear Tim is still suffering. We are still campaigning.
|
Bear Tim is being robbed of a wonderful new life at BEAR SANCTUARY Arbesbach by his owner, Mr. Rožmanec, and Slovenian authorities.
We have tried talking to Mr. Rožmanec, invited him to visit our sanctuaries, brought in wildlife experts to assess bear Tim, and shared our expert opinion more than once.
For our efforts, we were met with confrontational behaviour. But Tim needs us, and we will not give up. Here is how you can help.
The most definitive way to free Tim, and close the Zoo park Rožman for good, is to raise the keeping standards for wild animals in Slovenia.
To do that, join us in sending an e-mail to Slovenian authorities, asking them to improve keeping standards for wild animals in Slovenia.
Tim needs your voice. Every additional email increases the chance of freeing him. |

A glimpse into bear Teddy’s new beginning at BEAR SANCTUARY Müritz.
|
Teddy’s peaceful transfer from Tierpark Westerhausen in Germany to our sanctuary was a breath of fresh air. A facility that puts animal welfare ahead of profits is a change we hope to see more of.
Following a smooth transfer, Teddy is slowly adjusting to her new life at BEAR SANCTUARY Müritz. Though she is still uncertain and a picky eater, her behaviour is nothing we didn’t expect.
She has gone through a massive change, leaving behind a place she’d known for over 30 years. But her caretakers are watching over her and giving her all the time she needs to settle in.
After spending her first few weeks in the bear house, Teddy showed us a great sign of growing trust. Encouraged by her caretakers, she bravely took her very first steps into her outdoor enclosure, where she walked among the trees, bushes and ponds.
During the upcoming weeks, Teddy will likely remain in the bear house. And once she shows signs of progress, she will be moved to her outdoor enclosure. |
700,000 signatures. Millions of lives at stake.

Every year, more than a million dogs and cats are stolen, trafficked and slaughtered to supply the brutal dog and cat meat trade in Indonesia.
But 700,000 people have said enough.
As you read this, a petition to ban the dog and cat meat trade was delivered to Indonesian embassies and consulates around the world.
We could not have achieved this feat without the devotion of supporters like you.
If this bill passes, Indonesia will be the 6th country in Asia that bans the cruel trade -scoring a monumental win for animal welfare and changing the fate of millions of cats and dogs. |
Emergency rescue of baby fox.
|
Some rescues take months, sometimes years, of careful planning, training and fundraising. In contrast, the rescue of this baby fox simply fell into our lap, and we couldn’t be happier to help.
Our team at TIERART Wild Animal Sanctuary received an urgent call from Rhein‑Neckar Animal Rescue about a young fox in a desperate condition.
The little furball was found wallowing in mud, soaked to the bone and severely malnourished. The fox’s finders carefully removed most of the mud off its fur and arranged the fox’s transfer.
The fox arrived at our sanctuary utterly worn out. Our team watched it closely all night, finally rewarded with a great sign of progress: the fox started to bark!
Even more good news: the fox will be reintroduced to the wild by the end of summer. By then, the fox will have been introduced to foxes of the same age to learn natural social behaviours.
Together, they are kept in a special outdoor enclosure where they learn to live independently from humans, before being released into suitable forested areas away from populated areas. |
