I looked into the raised bed soil mix you asked about. The standard recommendation is roughly 60% topsoil, 30% compost, and 10% potting soil or other amendments. For the compost, you can use a blend of mushroom compost and cow manure, but make sure it is well-rotted so it does not burn the plant roots. I also found that adding some vermiculite or perlite helps with drainage if your area gets heavy rain. A lot of people skip the layer of cardboard at the bottom, but it really helps suppress weeds in the first year. Just wet it down well before you add the soil layers on top. You will want to fill the bed to just a few inches below the top to leave room for mulch. I can send you the link to the soil calculator I used if you want. Let me know if you need help figuring out the cubic feet for your specific bed dimensions. The local nursery also has a bulk delivery option that might be cheaper than buying individual bags.

The diner I was telling you about is called The Lamplighter Cafe, and it is just off the highway near the state line. They have this massive menu, but their specialty is the country-fried steak with white gravy. The portions are huge, so do not order an appetizer if you plan on getting an entree. I had their patty melt with onion rings, and the onion rings were hand-battered, not the frozen kind. The service was surprisingly fast for how busy it was at lunchtime. They also have a bakery case near the register with huge slices of pie. I saw someone get the banana cream pie, and it looked incredible. If you are heading that way for your trip next month, it is definitely worth stopping. It is about ten minutes off the main road, but it is right by that antique mall we like. We should plan to meet there for lunch one weekend.
