Hey, I finally sat down and tried that sourdough starter recipe you sent me a while back. It actually turned out way better than I expected. The first few days it felt like nothing was happening, but by day four it was super bubbly and smelled really good. I baked my first loaf yesterday and it had a decent crumb, though the scoring definitely needs some practice. I think I need a sharper blade. Anyway, I was thinking about what you said regarding the best flour blend. I just used all-purpose this time, but maybe I'll try mixing in some whole wheat next weekend. d8FuDyUKUdT Have you experimented much with hydration levels? I feel like the dough was a bit stickier than the videos showed. Let me know if you want me to save you a slice next batch.

That's a great point about the hiking trail. I looked it up on the map you sent and it seems like there's a nice loop around the lake. The elevation gain looks pretty manageable for a weekend afternoon. I was thinking we could start early to avoid the afternoon heat and maybe bring a picnic. I just got a new lightweight backpack that would be perfect for carrying some sandwiches and water. Let me know if you prefer the north trailhead or the south one. I heard the south entrance has a better view of the waterfall about a mile in. Either way, it should be a good time. I sent a message to Dave and Sarah as well to see if they want to join. It's been a while since we all did something outdoors together.
