Oh hey, yeah I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent me. It took a few days to get bubbly but this morning it doubled in size and smelled really nice — tangy and a little sweet. I fed it again and put it in the fridge so I can bake this weekend. I was thinking of doing a classic country loaf first, maybe with some rosemary and sea salt on top. My kitchen smelled like a bakery all afternoon and my roommate kept asking when the bread would be ready. I have no idea if I’m doing it right but it feels sturdy and the stretch test looked okay. I watched like four videos and each one said something different so I just picked the method that felt most intuitive. Let me know how yours turned out, maybe we can compare notes or do a bake-off sometime. I’ll send you a picture when I finally bake it. Also your suggestion about using a kitchen scale instead of cups made a huge difference — the hydration felt way more predictable once I weighed everything. Anyway, just wanted to update you because you asked. Hope your week is going well too. FqZTk2sOTM

I finally finished that book you lent me last month — the one about the family that moves to the coastal town and renovates the old inn. I know it took me forever but I got really into it after the first hundred pages. The way the author described the ocean light in the morning made me want to plan a trip somewhere quiet with a view of the water. I ended up reading the last fifty pages in one sitting because I needed to know what happened with the property dispute. The characters felt real and I liked how the subplot with the neighbor tied back to the main story. I underlined a few passages that reminded me of that trip we took a couple years ago. Let me know if you have any other recommendations — I’m in the mood for something similar but maybe with a bit more mystery. Also, I finally fixed the shelf in my living room that’s been crooked since I moved in, so that felt good.
