Yeah I totally agree with you about the trail conditions. We went up to Eagle Peak last weekend and the fog was rolling in around noon uV6trfMSlRF0aX which made the last mile pretty tricky. I'd say if you're planning to go next week aim for an early start like 6 or 7 AM to beat the crowds and get the best views before the clouds settle in. The parking lot was already half full when we got there at 7:30 so it definitely gets busy. We brought along some extra layers and a thermos of hot tea and that made all the difference once we hit the summit. There's a new reroute around the south ridge that adds about half a mile but avoids the really slippery rock section so I'd recommend taking that especially if you're bringing someone who's newer to hiking. Let me know if you want me to send you the GPS track we used. Also I heard the ranger station is doing guided wildflower walks on Saturdays now which could be a nice option if the weather cooperates. Anyway hope that helps with your planning.

I finally tried making that mushroom risotto you sent me and it turned out way better than I expected. The key was using a mix of cremini and shiitake mushrooms and toasting the arborio rice for a couple minutes before adding the broth. I also added a splash of white wine at the end which gave it a nice depth. My family was skeptical at first but everyone went back for seconds so I'd call that a win. I did adjust the salt a bit since the broth I used was already pretty salty. Next time I want to try adding some fresh thyme and maybe a little lemon zest to brighten it up. Have you experimented with different mushroom combos in yours I'd love to hear what works best. Also I used vegetable broth instead of chicken just to keep it vegetarian and it still had plenty of flavor. Let me know if you have any other recipes you'd recommend trying out.
