Yeah I got your message about the weekend plans. The weather looks like it should cooperate which is nice. I was thinking we could start around 10am if that works for everyone. Let me know if we need to bring anything specific or if its just a casual get together. I can grab some drinks and maybe a side dish if needed. The park shouldnt be too crowded that early. Also wanted to ask if you have room for a few extra chairs in case we need them. I know parking can be a bit tricky there but usually the lot on the east side has spaces. Let me know what you think and we can adjust the time if needed. I also wanted to mention that I might bring my portable speaker if thats alright. Just let me know.

I checked the reservation for the pavilion and it is confirmed for noon so we have a place to set up. They do allow grills so if someone wants to bring one that could work. I will bring charcoal and lighter fluid just in case. Let me know if anyone has dietary restrictions so I can plan the sides accordingly. I was thinking a simple pasta salad and maybe some fruit. If the weather turns we can move the gathering under the covered area near the playground. That space is usually open.

Also wanted to mention that I invited a few more people from the neighborhood so the group might be a bit larger than we originally planned. I hope that is fine with everyone. They are all easy going and will bring their own chairs and food.

Thanks for your question about the garden project. I found that starting with soil preparation makes a big difference. I usually mix in compost about two weeks before planting. The tomatoes need at least six hours of direct sunlight so plan your layout accordingly. I tried planting them near the fence last year and they didnt do as well. This year Im using raised beds which seem to help with drainage. Youll want to water deeply but less frequently to encourage root growth. Mulching around the base helps retain moisture and keeps weeds down. I also add a slow release fertilizer at the start of the season. For peppers they like it a bit warmer so I wait until after the last frost date. Keep an eye out for aphids and treat them early with neem oil if needed. Let me know if you want more details on any of these steps.

I also tried companion planting this year by putting basil near the tomatoes. It seems to help with pest control and the flavor is supposed to be better. Marigolds around the border also help keep bugs away. I water in the early morning so the leaves have time to dry before evening which reduces the chance of mildew. Staking the tomatoes early is important too so they grow upright and get good airflow. I use bamboo stakes and soft ties that wont damage the stems. For the peppers I use small cages to keep them from bending over when the fruit gets heavy.

Let me know if you want to come by and see the setup sometime. I can show you what I have done and share some tips based on what has worked for me. I am usually home on weekends and happy to help.
