yeah I get what you mean about finding a good hiking trail that isn't too crowded
we tried that new path near the reservoir last weekend and it was perfect
the weather was just right not too hot and the trees gave plenty of shade
there was a little stream about halfway through where we stopped to rest
my dog loved splashing around in the water she didn't want to leave
I think next time we will pack a proper lunch and make a full day of it
the elevation gain was gentle so nobody got too tired which was nice
we saw a family of deer near the meadow just standing there watching us
it felt really peaceful being away from the road noise for a while
I wish we had brought binoculars there were so many birds I couldn't identify
anyway if you want to join us next Saturday just let me know
we usually start early around 730 to beat the afternoon heat
bring plenty of water and maybe a snack bar for the break spot
the parking lot fills up quick so arriving early makes a big difference

honestly I think the best part of starting a vegetable garden is just watching things grow every day
my tomatoes are finally turning red and the basil is absolutely taking over the planter box
I started everything from seed back in March and it felt like nothing was happening for weeks
then suddenly little sprouts appeared and now I can hardly keep up with the watering
the cucumbers are climbing up the trellis faster than I expected they have these little tendrils
that grab onto anything and I find it really satisfying to watch them curl around the string
I tried growing carrots too but I think I planted them too close together because they are all tiny
next season I will space them out more and maybe add some raised beds for better soil drainage
my neighbor gave me a few pepper plants that she started and those are doing great
there is something about harvesting your own food that makes it taste better even if it is just a salad
I spent about an hour yesterday just weeding and watering and listening to music
it felt good to be outside and not thinking about anything else for a while
I might try growing pumpkins next year just for fun even if they take up a lot of space
anyway if you want some basil or tomatoes just let me know I will have plenty to share
