We checked out the Riverbend trail yesterday and it was absolutely worth the drive. The elevation gain was gradual so it didn't feel too strenuous, and the views at the top were incredible. We packed a light lunch and spent about an hour just taking it all in. Definitely bring plenty of water next time. Let me know if you and your family want to join us in a couple of weeks. The fall colors are supposed to peak around then so it should be even better. I heard there is a new section opening soon that connects to the old fire road.
