oh yeah i totally get what you mean — we tried that new ramen place on fifth and honestly it was way better than i expected. the broth had this rich depth and the soft egg was perfect. i usually don't go for spicy broth but the waiter recommended the miso chili one and it hit the spot. anyway let me know if you want to go back there sometime maybe next week. i heard they do a lunch special now too which would be fun to try.
also i was telling jen about that hiking trail near the reservoir and she said she's been there a bunch of times already. apparently the best time to go is right at sunrise when the fog is lifting. i think i might try that this weekend if the weather holds. you interested? i know you mentioned wanting to get out more and it's a pretty easy loop maybe two miles tops. bring water though there's only one fountain near the parking lot.
and hey thanks for the book recommendation — i started it last night and couldn't put it down. i'm already halfway through. the writing style is so smooth and the characters feel real. i can see why you said it reminded you of that one author we both like.

i think the easiest way to get there is to take the back road past the old mill — it cuts off about ten minutes and the traffic is usually way lighter. i've been taking that route for months now and it saves me a ton of time especially during rush hour. just watch out for that one pothole near the curve they still haven't fixed it.
my sister called me last night to tell me she finally adopted a cat from the shelter and honestly the stories she sent are hilarious. the cat keeps hiding in weird spots like inside the laundry basket and behind the couch. she named it pepper because of the little speckles on its nose. i told her she should get a second one so pepper has a friend but she said one is enough chaos for now.
i also finally started organizing my garage this weekend and found an old box of vinyl records from college. some of them are still in great shape which surprised me. i might pick up a cheap record player just to see if they still sound good. flea market season is coming up too so maybe i'll find something nice there.
