I finally had a chance to look at that book you recommended. I was a bit skeptical at first but once I got past the first few chapters it really pulled me in. The character development is subtle and the way the author describes the landscape makes you feel like you are right there. I stayed up way too late last night finishing it. I think you would enjoy the next one in the series too — I heard it expands on the backstory of the main character in a really interesting way. Let me know if you want to borrow it when I am done. I could drop it off next week sometime. Also thanks for the suggestion on that documentary. I watched it over the weekend and learned a lot. The cinematography was stunning. I might watch it again to catch the details I missed.

Hey thanks for checking in on the hiking trip plans. I think the trail we looked at last week would be perfect for a day hike. It is about six miles round trip with a moderate elevation gain and there is a nice lake at the turnaround point. I checked the recent conditions and the trail is clear with only a few muddy spots near the stream crossing. We should bring plenty of water and some snacks. I also talked to a friend who did it last month and she said the wildflowers were incredible in the meadow section. I am thinking we could start early around 7am to beat the afternoon heat. Let me know if that works for you or if you would prefer a different weekend. I can drive if you want to carpool. Also I have an extra pair of trekking poles if you need them. Just let me know what works best for your schedule and we can lock it in.
