Yeah, I finally got around to trying that hiking trail you recommended last month. The views from the top were incredible, definitely worth the early start. We took the longer loop and ended up going through that meadow you mentioned. The wildflowers were still out and it was just gorgeous. I think we will do it again maybe in the fall when the colors change. Let me know if you want to join next time. Also, I picked up a few tips from that guy at the outdoor shop about proper footwear for that terrain. He said the trail can get pretty muddy after rain, so I will keep that in mind. The whole thing took us about five hours with breaks. We packed sandwiches and ate at the summit which made it even better. Anyway, just wanted to share how it went. Thanks again for the suggestion.
I also thought about bringing a camera next time because the lighting up there was perfect around late afternoon. A couple of people we met on the trail mentioned that the sunrise hike is even more spectacular, but that would mean starting at like 4 AM. Not sure I am quite ready for that yet. Might try it once the weather cools down a bit more.

I finished reading that book you lent me last week. Honestly, I was not sure about it in the first few chapters but it really picked up about halfway through. The main character's arc felt genuine and the setting was so vivid I could picture everything. Thanks again for the recommendation, I would not have picked it up on my own. I will drop it back at your place this weekend if that works. I was browsing online and saw there is a sequel coming out next year, which I might check out. The writing style reminded me a bit of that author we both liked in college, the one who wrote that short story collection. I have been trying to read more fiction lately instead of just non-fiction and this was a good start. Let me know if you have any other suggestions. I am open to trying different genres.
Also, I came across an interview with the author where she talked about how she wrote most of the book during a long train journey across Europe. Apparently the scenery and the rhythm of the tracks influenced the pacing of the story. I found that really interesting because you can kind of feel that movement in the later chapters. Anyway, just thought you might enjoy that little detail. Let me know what you think when you get a chance.
