We took the trail up to Eagle Lake instead of the shorter loop we talked about last weekend. The elevation gain was steady but manageable for our group. We packed sandwiches and plenty of water and a few snacks for the break at the summit. The views at the top were worth every step with clear skies allowing a sightline across the valley. Next time we might try the overnight camping spot near the ridge that the ranger mentioned. Let me know if you want the exact trail map we used because the markings were a bit faint in a couple of sections. The weather was cooperative for the most part, mostly sunny with a high near 75 degrees. We started around 7 AM to avoid the afternoon crowds and the heat. The trailhead parking lot was already half full when we arrived. We used trekking poles for the steeper sections which helped a lot on the loose gravel. Saw a family of deer near the stream crossing about halfway up. The wildflowers were in full bloom along the meadow section, lots of lupine and Indian paintbrush scattered through the grass. The total hike was about 6 miles round trip and took us roughly four hours with breaks. We took several stops to enjoy the scenery and take pictures of the landscape. The lake itself was crystal clear and surprisingly warm for early summer near the edges.

The meeting for the downtown revitalization committee has been moved to Thursday next week instead of Tuesday. I spoke with the planning office and they are coordinating with the traffic engineers to present the new crosswalk proposals. They want to review the pedestrian safety data from the last quarter before finalizing the recommendations. I will send the updated agenda to everyone by Wednesday afternoon. The public comment period will likely be extended given the interest from local businesses. We should prepare a summary of the feedback we have received so far from the neighborhood association. Let me know if you have any specific points you want me to include in the draft. The minutes from the last meeting are posted in the shared folder if anyone needs a refresher on the parking discussion. We may need to schedule a follow-up session with the transit authority if the proposed changes conflict with the bus route schedules they have planned.
