I just got back from the hike up near the old fire road. You were right, the view from the ridge is incredible. We saw a family of deer crossing the stream about halfway up. The trail markers were a bit confusing after the fork, so we ended up taking the longer loop, which added about an hour. Definitely worth it though. I'm planning to go again next Saturday if the weather holds up. Let me know if you want to join. I'll bring the map this time so we don't take the scenic route again. We can pack lunch and make a full day of it. The fall colors are just starting to peak, so it should be even better next weekend. I'll text you the details later.
