I talked to the landscaper about the front yard plan and he suggested we go with the drought tolerant grass mix instead of the standard sod. He said it holds up better in direct sun and uses about thirty percent less water over the summer. The soil preparation will take a couple of days and they need to remove the old sprinkler heads before laying down the new system. He also recommended adding a row of lavender along the walkway because it attracts pollinators and stays green most of the year. The total timeline is about two weeks from start to finish depending on weather. I told him we could start the first week of next month. He is going to send over a revised quote including the soil amendment and the new drip lines for the flower beds. Let me know if you want to add any more plants on the side near the fence before I give him the go ahead. I think the whole plan will really transform the curb appeal and make maintenance much easier going forward.

I checked with the community center about reserving the large room for the craft fair in October. They have the third weekend open and can hold up to forty tables in that space. The rental fee includes setup and cleanup but we need to provide our own tablecloths. I suggested we ask each vendor to bring their own and offer a small discount for those who donate extras. The coordinator also mentioned they have a new sound system that works with Bluetooth so we can play background music without extra equipment. We will need to have at least one volunteer at the check in table during the whole event. I can cover the first shift if someone else takes the second. I also talked to the woman who runs the pottery booth and she said she can bring her wheel for a live demo. That should draw a good crowd. Let me know if you think we should cap the number of vendors this year or keep it open as long as tables are available.
