Yeah, I finally did that trail we talked about last month. Honestly it was tougher than I expected but the views at the top made it totally worth it. We started around 7am to beat the heat and it took about four hours round trip with plenty of breaks. The switchbacks were the hardest part but once we hit the ridge it opened up and you could see the whole valley stretching out for miles. I brought way too much water but better safe than sorry. Next time I think we should try the loop that goes around the lake side, I heard it's more shaded and there's a spot where you can see wildflowers in season. The ground was a bit dry so it was dusty in spots but nothing a good pair of boots couldn't handle. There was a part near the creek crossing where the trail got a little overgrown but we pushed through and it opened up to this really peaceful meadow area. Let me know if you want to plan something for next weekend, the weather forecast looks pretty clear for Saturday at least.

I also stopped by that cafe we like on the way back and grabbed one of their seasonal drinks, it was pretty good and hit the spot after all that walking.

I finally finished that novel you recommended and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The pacing was slow at first but around chapter three it really found its rhythm and I could not put it down. The main character development felt authentic and the way the author handled the dialogue made the scenes come alive in a way I have not seen in a while. There was one twist near the middle that I genuinely did not see coming and that is rare for me because I usually figure things out pretty early. The setting was described so vividly I felt like I was walking through those streets right alongside the characters. I have already told a couple of friends about it and one of them picked it up last weekend. I think you would enjoy the follow-up book too if you have not read it yet, it focuses on a side character from this one and expands the world even more. The author is working on a third installment from what I read online so that should be coming out sometime next year based on the latest updates.

I also started another one from a different author that has a similar tone but set in a completely different region, it is interesting to compare how each writer builds atmosphere in their own way.
