Hey so I finally started that vegetable garden I kept talking about. Built two raised beds in the backyard last weekend and filled them with a mix of compost and topsoil. I planted tomatoes peppers basil and some zucchini. The soil was actually in decent shape after I turned it a few times. My neighbor gave me a few starter plants so I didn't have to start everything from seed. I ended up going with a drip irrigation kit from the hardware store and it was way easier to set up than I thought it would be. Took me about an hour to run the lines and connect everything to the spigot. I still need to put down some mulch to keep the weeds down and help retain moisture. The whole project ended up costing less than a hundred bucks which felt reasonable. I'm already seeing little sprouts on the pepper plants and it's only been a week. My back is a little sore from all the digging but honestly it was worth it. If you want I can send you some pictures of the setup. Let me know if you ever want to borrow the tools I used because I'll probably leave them in the shed for a while. I'm thinking about adding a third bed next spring maybe for strawberries and herbs. Anyway just wanted to give you an update since you were curious about how it was going.

Hey thanks for checking in about the road trip. We ended up taking the longer coastal route instead of the interstate and it made such a difference. The weather was perfect the whole way and we found this little diner in a town we'd never heard of that had the best homemade pie I've had in years. We stopped at a few lookouts along the way and the ocean views were honestly stunning. The whole drive took about six hours with breaks but it felt way shorter because we were having such a good time. We stayed at a small inn that a friend recommended and it was cozy and quiet. The room had this big window that faced the water and I sat there watching the sunset with a cup of coffee. We spent the next day just walking around the town and browsing the shops. There was a bookstore with a resident cat and I almost bought like five books but I showed some restraint. Anyway it was exactly the kind of break I needed. I'd definitely recommend that route if you ever plan a trip up the coast. Let me know if you want the name of that diner or the inn because I saved both.
