I think the best approach for the backyard project is to start with the patio layout first. We measured the space yesterday and it looks like we can fit about 12 flagstones comfortably. The key is to level the ground properly before laying anything down. I found a good supplier that has the sandstone blend we discussed and they can deliver next Tuesday. For the border, I am leaning toward the darker edging stones to create a nice contrast. We will need roughly 40 pounds of polymeric sand for the joints. The fire pit should go in the center with at least 3 feet of clearance on all sides. I checked the city codes and as long as it stays under 24 inches in diameter we do not need a permit. Let me know if you prefer the curved or rectangular layout. I can come by this weekend to help mark everything out if you are free. I also picked up a few extra pavers in case we need to adjust the pattern. The gravel base should go down first for proper drainage. I can bring the compactor from my garage to make sure everything is tight. We should also consider adding a small pathway from the patio to the garden bed.

I finally got around to organizing the garage shelves last weekend and it made a huge difference. The key was grouping all similar items together on the same shelf so I can find things quickly. I used the clear bins for small parts and labeled each one with a marker. For the tools, I installed a magnetic strip on the wall which freed up a lot of drawer space. The leftover paint cans went on the top shelf with the lids sealed tight and the date written on top. I still need to sort through the camping gear but that can wait until next month. The folding chairs and cooler fit nicely on the lower shelf near the door. I also hung a pegboard for the frequently used items which keeps everything visible. I should have done this years ago because now I can actually park in the carport again. I put the holiday decorations in the back corner since those only come out once a year. The gardening supplies are now on a dedicated rack next to the workbench. I picked up a few stackable storage totes from the home store that fit perfectly under the shelf. Next weekend I plan to tackle the workbench top and clear off all the clutter that has accumulated over the past few months.
